The project

Superbloom is working on a grant-funded project to deliver a bilingual (English/Spanish) community co-design project. Our goal is to help New Yorkers better understand and respond to AI use in civic life. This role will lead the workshop design and curriculum/facilitation materials in partnership with our multi-organizational team and 4-5 community-based organizations. Overall the goal is to run 8+ multilingual workshops/co-design sessions reaching approximately 150 participants between October 2026 and March 2027 to co-design a Civic Feedback Framework for AI Transparency. The Framework will offer practical methods communities and organizations can use to gather input and translate it into clear recommendations about AI transparency.

The role

  • You’ll lead workshop design and curriculum development. You are responsible for survey design, partnership onboarding and engagement, and data collection.
  • You’ll work closely with the team, project partners, and the community partner organizations, to deliver 8+ community workshops and reach 150+ participants.
  • You’ll synthesize learnings from the workshops and develop grant outputs, including a Civic Feedback Framework for AI Transparency, to make the insights understandable and actionable by the project team.
  • You’ll support the development of communications assets and content (such as blog posts, learning resources, etc) needed for curriculum development and grant reporting.
  • This is a 30+ hours/week, benefits eligible, grant-funded position with a base salary range of $60,000-$80,000. The position will start as soon as the position is filled and will run through March 2027.

About you

  • You are based in New York (City or State) and have experience working with local community and/or civic engagement projects.
  • You are available for a 30+ hours/week position during US-Eastern work hours.
  • You are proficient in Spanish and English.
  • You love talking to community members to better understand social and technical systems.
  • You have experience with human-centered, participatory, or interview-based research (specifically field research).
  • You work well independently and in collaboration with a fully remote, distributed team.
  • You have excellent project team communication and meeting facilitation skills.
  • You are able to manage a balance of strategic planning and tactical execution.
  • You are experienced with engaging in client-centered communication.
  • You are comfortable advocating for yourself and your work to make sure that you’re getting what you need to be successful.
  • You understand the nuances of writing for a broad audience and how to make your words direct and accessible without simplifying your message.
  • You write clear, concise, and engaging research synthesis to be read by a broad non-technical audience.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency with graphic/visual design tools (e.g. Adobe Suite, Canva, Figma, etc).
  • Knowledgeable about one or more of the following areas: open source software, civic technology, urban and smart city technologies, internet freedom, tech criticism and activism, human rights.
  • Comfortable with collaborative work tools (we currently use Notion, Slack, Miro, and Google Suite).
  • Comfortable with exploring and evaluating new tools.
  • Comfortable in cross-cultural communication, e.g. experience with international work or remote work culture.
  • Aware of best practices around informed research consent, safeguarding confidential research information, and anonymizing participant data.

Additional Information

We are a US 501(c)3 organization that works internationally, with team members working from the US (PT) to Central Europe (CET). For this project, we’re looking for someone based in New York (City or State). We expect this position will mainly be remote, with in-person attendance required for meetings and workshops. Currently, the position is term-limited connected with the project delivery timeline, with possibility of extension based on other fundraising.
